After a very successful season for the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team, two members of the roster were invited to the NBA draft combine. Koby Brea and Otega Oweh were given a chance to show what they could do in front of NBA decision makers.
Brea and Otega went through drills, were measured, and played in scrimmages in an effort to show they could help an NBA team. How did they do?
Their measurements were similar, with Brea coming in at 6-foot-5.75-inches, and Oweh at 1.5 inches less. However, Oweh’s wingspan is bigger, at 6-foot-8.5 inches, compared to Breat at 6-foot-5.25 inches. Their hand sizes and standing reaches were nearly identical.
The to Wildcats were also very similar in their jumping numbers. Both had 27.5 inch standing vertical jumps. In the max jump, Oweh hit 35 inches, while Brea was at 34 inches.
In the shooting drills, Brea thrived. Off the dribble, he made 21-of-30, which tied him with guys like Cooper Flagg and ace Bailey. Oweh made 16-of-30, Brea also did very well in the spot up drill, nailing 19-of-25. That was good for a tie for sixth best overall.
In the three-point shooting drills, Brea was also solid, making 15-of-25 from the star, and 17-of 27 from the side. Oweh made 12 and 11 from those spots respectively.
Not surprisingly, Brea fared better in the shooting drills, but Oweh performed better in the physical tests. Now, the question is, what does that mean for their draft prospects? We’ll find out.
