The 2025-26 season has taken a 360-degree turn for the Milwaukee Bucks in just one month. Milwaukee started the season with a 4-1 record, which included a big win over the East favorites, the New York Knicks. Since then, they have spiraled, and after losing to the woeful Washington Wizards on Monday night, the Bucks are now 9-13 and have dropped eight out of their last nine games played.

Some say it’s too early in the campaign to react, but former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins believes that it is time for the Bucks to be in panic mode because they might lose Giannis Antetokounmpo if they don’t arrest their skid.

“If I’m Milwaukee, I’m definitely in a panic-type situation. And it didn’t just start this season. This was chatter in the off-season, this previous offseason. So this is something that’s kind of been looming in the dark for a while now. And this roster construction and the way this season is going so far definitely isn’t helping the situation, so I do think this is a time for them to panic,” DeMarcus explained.

The Bucks are reeling

Antetokounmpo has been rumored to be angling his way out of “Deer District” since last season, after the team could not find success after winning the 2021 NBA championship. Those gossips became louder this past summer when Damian Lillard suffered an ACL tear during the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

The Bucks ended up waiving Dame using the stretch provision so they could sign Myles Turner in free agency and give Antetokounmpo a new running mate. However, Turner hasn’t been a difference maker and Kevin Porter Jr. is injured, leaving Giannis the task of carrying a heavier load. However, while the Greek Freak has done that, it has not been enough, and the Bucks are currently reeling in the team standings.

“It’s time for them to make some moves, serious moves, like bringing in some real talent, veteran talent that can help move the needle this season and possibly keep him in place and keep him at home. But this season, as of right now, definitely isn’t a good start as far as keeping Giannis in town,” added Cousins.

Giannis deletes Bucks-related items on his social media accounts

Interestingly, Antetokounmpo himself has re-ignited the rumors after he deleted almost everything related to the Bucks from his social media accounts. Across Instagram, X, and Snapchat, Giannis changed his profile description to “Athlete.” On IG, the only photos of him in a Bucks uniform were those of the 2021 NBA championship and 2024 NBA Cup wins. On “X”, the superstar forward deleted all posts after the 2021 NBA championship.

However, this is not the first time that Giannis has deleted photos and posts from his social media accounts. It can be recalled that in the aftermath of Kobe Bryant’s death in 2020, he not only deleted photos and posts but also all of his social media accounts. However, that was short-lived as he was back on the platforms four days later.

Antetokounmpo has not spoken about his latest move. But it’s out of the ordinary, and he must be trying to send a message. Whatever the message is, that should put the Bucks in a state of panic.
