INDIANAPOLIS — Pacers second-year wing Johnny Furphy has been upgraded to questionable on the injury report for Wednesday’s home game against the Nuggets, the Pacers posted on their social media accounts Tuesday.
Furphy has played in just three games this season due to left foot and ankle issues, totaling 37 minutes and scoring eight points on 3-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. He hasn’t appeared in a game since Nov. 3 in the Pacers’ loss to the Bucks.
He was assigned to the Noblesville Boom last weekend and took part in a practice with the Pacers’ G League affiliate before he being recalled by the Pacers.
The 20-year-old native of Australia who played one season at Kansas, appeared in 50 games as a rookie and averaged 2.1 points per game, and the Pacers hoped for a breakout in part because his G League (14.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game in 10 games) and NBA Summer League (11.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists) performance, which included a poster dunk over the Bulls’ Noa Essengue.
The Pacers still have five players listed as out: guards Tyrese Haliburton, Kam Jones and Quenton Jackson, and forwards Obi Toppin and Aaron Nesmith.
