The Golden State Warriors had a dynasty in part because of Draymond Green. While Steph Curry and Klay Thompson got a lot of attention because of the shooting and offensive prowess, Green was the defensive backbone of the championship teams.
Green is a former Defensive Player of the Year. His ability to switch and defend all five positions on the floor is paramount to how the Warriors are able to play. He also gives the team a certain attitude on the court that is much-needed.
As the Warriors try to win one more title, Green is still a key player. However, not everything has been glamorous. Recently, Green opened up about a heartbreaking event that Green will miss due to his upcoming NBA schedule.

Warriors Draymond Green Opens up About Missing Birth of Child
While the Warriors are about to go on the road for the next three games. That will force Green to miss the birth of his child. Green was asked about it, and he was pretty blunt with his response.
“It sucks. It’s pretty sh—-, if I’m honest. But this is my job. I love to do my job. But it’s terrible, if I’m honest. It’s not the first time I’ve been in this position, though. But my wife does a great job. She’s strong.”
Green will not be there for the birth of his kid, which is pretty sad. He could have taken time off from the team in order to attend it, but he decided to stay with the Warriors. He understands that the team is in a critical spot in the schedule in a competitive Western Conference.
Green was also happy that he was able to have his son with him on the court, and he spoke about that, as well.
“I was happy they were here.”

The Warriors Need Green Now More Than Ever
With Curry still out with an injury, the Warriors need Green to be part of the roster more than ever. They will have to play better defensively in order to make up for the lost offense that they will have without Curry making threes and driving to the rim.
Golden State has the eighth-worst offense in the NBA. They haven’t been able to get it together with both Curry and Jimmy Butler missing time. Curry isn’t expected back for at least another week, so this road trip will be without him in the lineup.
The Warriors have had to find different ways of manufacturing points with him on the sidelines. Green has had to take more shots recently, even if he hasn’t been making them. He will have to start making his wide-open shots if the Warriors are going to win games without Curry.
Soon, the schedule will become more favorable for the Warriors, and Green will be able to spend more time with his family. Until then, Green will put his head down and go to work.
