The Boston Celtics‘ recent winning stretch continued on Tuesday night, as the team picked up a 123-117 victory over the New York Knicks. Once again, Jaylen Brown led the way, as he poured in 42 points to help the C’s earn win No. 12 on the season.

With Jayson Tatum still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, Brown has had to shoulder a bigger load on offense this season. So far, he has proven capable of being one of the top scorers in the league, as he’s now averaging 29 points per game through 21 contests this year.

Making this big game even sweeter for Brown was the fact that it came against a Knicks team that eliminated the C’s from the playoffs last year. While the superstar forward acknowledged that it was only one game, he quickly switched gears and taunted New York for its inability to slow him down.

“It was just one game,” Brown said during a stream on Twitch after the Celtics’ win. “It was belt to a**, but it was just one game.”

Brown’s ability to score nearly 30 points per game has been a big reason why the Celtics are exceeding expectations currently. We already knew Brown was a superstar, but he has proven that there’s another level he can take things to when needed.

So far, Boston has needed every single one of Brown’s buckets, and that will likely remain the case throughout the course of the season. The Celtics will look to earn another win on Thursday night when they take on the lowly Washington Wizards.
