Devin Booker got hurt during the Phoenix Suns’ surprise blowout victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. After playing 10 minutes, Booker had to leave the game early, but the Suns didn’t have much trouble from that.

The Suns have been surprisingly solid this season, considering they lost a significant number of players coming into the season. It goes without saying, though, that without Booker, they could be in some trouble. After Booker’s latest injury, Phoenix has quite the obstacle to overcome.

How Long Will Devin Booker Be Absent From the Suns Due to Injury?

ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed the exact injury Booker is dealing with and his projected recovery timeline.

“Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker has sustained a right groin strain and will be re-evaluated in one week, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote. “Best case for Booker and the Suns, who are a surprise 13-9 and in the West playoff picture so far this season.”

Booker is averaging 25 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 45.7% from the field and 31.5% from three. Those are pretty good numbers, but Booker has put up better ones with the Suns over the years. The fact that the Suns are 13-9, despite a slight downturn in Booker’s numbers, shows how surprisingly resilient the team has been.

Not only did they give up Kevin Durant for pennies on the dollar, but they also have to pay Bradley Beal $19.4 million annually for the next five years to not play for them. Yet somehow, the team is holding on. There’s no telling if things will stay that way, though, and Booker’s groin injury could prove to be trouble.

Nonetheless, the Suns just beat one of the Western Conference’s best teams, the Lakers, despite not having Booker for most of the game. It’s clear that even with all the talent Phoenix has lost, they have re-established a healthy culture. It’s only a shame they didn’t have that when they didn’t have Durant.

But that’s all past them now, and if anything, this should give this Suns team a good challenge. No one thought they would be here with the season a quarter of the way done. Phoenix has mightily surpassed expectations this season. They obviously would prefer Booker to be there, and it doesn’t sound like he’ll be out for too long, but this could make the season more fun.
