The 2025-26 NBA season was set to be Chris Paul’s retirement tour. The legendary point guard was back with the Los Angeles Clippers, the team he led during his prime. However, things took a terrible turn for him on Wednesday, with the Clippers abruptly parting ways with CP3.

Paul posted on social media that the team was sending him home, before the team released a statement confirming it. The franchise claimed they would help plan the next steps for the Point God, but those seem like empty words. Head coach Tyronn Lue has now broken his silence on the matter.

“I just think it wasn’t a good fit for what he was looking for. It is what it is,” Lue said to the media. “Do I want to see CP go out like this? No. I have a lot of respect for him. He’s been a friend of mine over the years.

It’s hard to say if the 40-year-old Paul will be able to find another team at this juncture. CP is no longer productive at the NBA level. This was supposed to be his farewell tour. Whatever Lue might say, this is one of the more ruthless moves a franchise has made in a long time.
