After Seth Curry was given another opportunity with the Golden State Warriors, head coach Steve Kerr recently discussed the unique skill set the younger Curry brother brings to the team.

Although the Warriors remained relatively inactive during the offseason, much of the fan base had hoped to see the Curry brothers share the court, an expectation that grew after the team signed Seth in training camp.

However, the Warriors waived him in October before bringing him back Monday, and he made his season debut Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Seth Curry Almost Had a Perfect Shooting Night in His Warriors Debut

While Steph has received the lion’s share of media attention and credit throughout their careers, Seth is a talented basketball player in his own right. Though not as accomplished a long-range shooter as his older brother, Seth has diligently developed his game over several years.

His hard work and skill were evident in the game against the Thunder. Although the Warriors lost, Seth’s 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting were enough to draw the attention of coach Steve Kerr.

“He comes from the greatest shooting family in the history of basketball. He’s a pro… He kept himself ready,” Kerr said.

Seth is genuinely in a unique position. Not only is his elder brother a well-established NBA legend, but their father, Dell Curry, is also a former NBA star best known for his time with the Charlotte Hornets. Despite playing in an era that did not prioritize long-distance shooting, Dell averaged more than five 3-point attempts per game between 1994 and 1996.

Having a father who achieved a relative amount of success in the NBA certainly influenced the Curry brothers, who developed their own love for the game and went on to become professional athletes.

Adding the younger Curry brother to their lineup may marginally improve the Warriors. However, there is no getting around the fact that Golden State has other issues that need to be addressed. After all, the team is 11-11, a sign that it will be difficult for them to qualify for the playoffs unless they can gain momentum.

Given that the Curry brothers share a close relationship and bond, it may be possible for them to inspire each other to elevate their respective play for the Warriors. Only time will tell if the decision to add Seth will help the team.
