Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to make it back-to-back wins on Thursday when they face the Golden State Warriors in a home game at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Sixers are coming off a 121-102 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, which improved their record to 11-9.
George was quiet against Washington, though, registering 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting, five rebounds, a steal and three triples in just 18 minutes of action. The nine-time All-Star entered the game with a questionable tag due to back and knee injuries, and the issues may have played a role in his performance against the Wizards.

George is back on the injury report for the Warriors game, and there is a significant chance he will not be able to suit up against Golden State.

George has played in three straight games for the Sixers after sitting out their Nov. 25 blowout loss to the Orlando Magic. After missing the first 12 games of the season due to a knee injury, the six-time All-NBA swingman has been able to take the court in six out of his team’s last eight games. During that stretch, he’s averaged 13.5 points on 41.2% shooting, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.0 triples in 22.2 minutes per contest.

It appears that the Sixers now plan to hold George out of Thursday’s contest. He has been listed on the injury report as questionable to play due to left knee injury recovery. It is important to note that Thursday’s game is the first of a back-to-back set. The 76ers are in action again on Friday in a road game against the Milwaukee Bucks. George has yet to play in two straight nights this season.
Joel Embiid could also be out of commission again against the Warriors. He sat out against the Wizards due to a knee injury and is now doubtful to play on Wednesday against Golden State.
If both George and Embiid end up sitting out, Tyrese Maxey will need to carry the load yet again for the Sixers. The All-Star guard is averaging a career-high 32.5 points this season, and Philly might need every bit of that on Wednesday.

It’s going to be a home game for the 76ers, with tip-off from Xfinity Mobile Arena scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
