PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns continue to take hits from the injury bug, announcing Tuesday that All-Star guard Devin Booker has suffered a right groin strain.

Booker was pulled in the first quarter of Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers after appearing to grab at his leg on a drive to the rim.
The team said Booker will be reevaluated in one week and will remain sidelined in the meantime. So far this season, he has averaged 25.0 points, 6.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds.

The injury is expected to affect the Suns’ rhythm, as Booker has been one of their most consistent pieces this year. Even on quieter scoring nights, his presence as a leader on the floor has been evident. Still, his absence may not stall the offense entirely.
After Booker exited against the Lakers, Phoenix continued to surge. Dillon Brooks and Collin Gillespie combined for 61 points in the Suns’ 125-108 upset win. While losing Booker may force Phoenix to adjust its rotations, the “next man up” approach the team has adopted has worked in its favor so far this season.

As the Suns continue to generate national attention and prove early skeptics wrong, more eyes will be on how they fare without their cornerstone for the next few games. With key matchups looming this week, the Suns are expected to draw increased viewership.
Phoenix has long been a team capable of adapting when injuries strike and it will be telling to see how the Suns regroup without a veteran leader like Booker.
