Giannis Antetokounmpo gave the Milwaukee Bucks a slight scare on Wednesday in a 113-109 win against the Detroit Pistons. In the opening quarter, Antetokounmpo went down on the floor due to a non-contact injury. The setback sent him back to the locker room, and the Bucks announced that he would not return.
The Greek Freak was ruled out of the game due to a calf injury. Before he was examined, Antetokounmpo was feared to have suffered a serious Achilles injury. Although the star forward was able to walk on his own, there was no update until the game ended.

Following the contest, head coach Doc Rivers offered an encouraging update on the team’s best player regarding a potential Achilles injury.

“I think we’ve ruled that out, honestly,” Rivers said.
“But I don’t think it was no contact, either. I thought the bump — he watched the bump drive. That’s what threw him off balance. I thought the bump was what made him lose his balance.
Rivers also told the media that Antetokounmpo underwent an MRI scan. So far, there haven’t been any new updates on the nine-time All-Star. The star player was on the floor for only 3 minutes and finished the game with 2 points.

Antetokounmpo’s teammate, Bobby Portis Jr., told reporters after the game that he hasn’t had the chance to talk yet. However, Portis said that the Bucks star was the first person to congratulate the team on its win.
Following the win, the Bucks will face the Philadelphia 76ers before their one-game road trip against the Pistons.
