Atlanta recalled Newell from the G League’s College Park Skyhawks on Wednesday.
Newell ended up playing 19 minutes against the Clippers on Wednesday, finishing with 11 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound and one steal. If Jalen Johnson (calf) and Kristaps Porzingis (illness) continue to miss time, Newell has shown the coaching staff that he will be ready if his name is called.
