Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant is “day-to-day” while dealing with a right calf strain, coach Tuomas Iisalo told reporters Dec. 4.

Morant injured his calf in the first quarter of a Nov. 15 loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Grizzlies announced on Nov. 17 that Morant would be reevaluated in two weeks.

Iisalo added that Morant has been participating in non-full speed and non-contact drills.

“He’s already moving and able to do some things with the team, so looking positive,” Iisalo said.

Morant is averaging 17.9 points and 7.6 assists in 12 games this season. Memphis is 4-8 when Morant plays this season. The Grizzlies (9-13) are 5-5 without Morant.

Morant’s absence is one of many that has decimated the Grizzlies’ point guard depth. Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe), Ty Jerome (calf) and Javon Small (toe) are all out with injuries.

Small should be reevaluated sometime this month, and Ty Jerome is expected to return somewhere between early and mid-January.

The Grizzlies won’t play on the road again until Dec. 15. Their next game is at home on Dec. 5 (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network) against the Los Angeles Clippers.
