A potentially unbreakable NBA record came to an end on a cold Thursday night north of the border.

LeBron James’ stretch of 10-point games, which dated back to 2007, was halted in the Los Angeles Lakers‘ win over the Toronto Raptors. The 40-year-old had the game-winning assist, but finished with eight points, his first single-digit scoring performance in nearly two decades.
James’ 1,297 straight games in double-digit scoring figures are, by far, an all-time NBA record. But could any active player challenge it some day? There are a few ongoing 10-point streaks over 100 games from the league’s top stars.
Here’s a look at the new leaderboard for active 10-point streaks after James’ unreal run came to an end on Thursday.

NBA active 10-point streaks
Simply put, no player is even remotely close to James’ 10-point streak record. The closest player would be Kevin Durant of the Houston Rockets, who has scored at least 10 points in every game since April 25, 2021, when he was with the Brooklyn Nets.
Durant, however, is 37 years old. Even if he played every game over the next few years, his 267 consecutive double-digit scoring games wouldn’t come close to James’ 1,297.
If there are two players who could be (massive) longshots to someday challenge James’ mark, it’d be the reigning MVP and Finals MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and James’ current Lakers teammate, Luka Doncic.

Gilgeous-Alexander has an active streak of 170 consecutive 10-point games, while Doncic has 157 in a row. Both streaks date back to 2023 — but both players would virtually have to maintain their respective streaks for at least another decade to even push for James’ mark.
Here are the active 10-point streaks in the NBA after James’ ended on Thursday.

Who is closest to LeBron James’ 10-point streak record?
Kevin Durant is the closest active player to James’ all-time record for consecutive 10-point games. However, even as the active leader with 267-straight performances with double-digit points, Durant trails James by 1,030 games.

Durant also had a streak of 562 consecutive 10-point games earlier in his career, from 2009 to 2017, which ranks fifth all-time.
