Former NBA player wants the Denver Nuggets to trade for Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant.

The Denver Nuggets’ playoff journey concluded following the team’s massive 125-93 Game 7 loss at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now, the Nuggets have a long offseason ahead of them. While the team reached the conference semifinals, there were some obvious flaws in the current roster construction.

Keeping that in mind, the Nuggets are expected to make some moves in the summer to expand the championship window around superstar Nikola Jokic.

Throughout the 2025 NBA Playoffs, there were times when the Joker was seemingly carrying the team on his shoulders.

It led to the fanbase expressing anger toward the lack of help around the 3x NBA MVP. To solve this issue next season, former Dallas Maverick Theo Pinson suggested the Nuggets trade for Kevin Durant.

“I’m Denver this is what I’m doing. Jamal, MPJ, send the picks to Phoenix. Get Kevin Durant. Bring back Bruce Brown, he ain’t gonna get as much money as he used to, and then I go get Dennis Schroder.

“You can’t guard him [Jokic] if Kevin Durant’s there,” Pinson said, via Run Your Race podcast.

On paper, a Durant-Jokic partnership sounds lethal. But as Pinson said, the franchise will also need to add key role players to make this work.

Otherwise, the potential trade will simply gut the team’s depth and the Nuggets may continue their cycle of getting bounced before the conference finals.

Pinson on Durant’s fit with the Nuggets

At 36 years old, Durant is undoubtedly in the twilight years of his NBA career. While KD is still an All-Star caliber player, his fitness has been a major concern over the last few years.

That’s why a trade to the Nuggets may be what the current Phoenix Suns superstar needs to win another title.

“This might be what he’s looking for, because now I don’t have the legs I used to have where I used to get a bucket every single time. Let’s play through the offense, and the offense is Jokic,” Pinson continued.

“I just don’t know how you are truly able to guard that team,” he concluded.

It will be interesting to see if Denver tries to approach the Suns for a Durant trade. After all, the Suns threw the kitchen sink in order to acquire KD in hopes of winning an NBA Championship.
