The Chris Paul-Los Angeles Clippers fallout has been one of the most popular topics in the NBA this week. The team sent the veteran point guard home on Tuesday, ending the player’s second stint with the Clips only two months after they reunited.
As soon as fans learned about the news, speculation began. Anything Paul’s former teammates and coaches said received extra attention, as fans wanted to get answers. Tyronn Lue spoke on the decision, implying he had something to do with it.
This led fans to speculate about whether Lue liked Paul. A video of the coach dropping an F-bomb on Paul made the rounds on social media on Friday.
Ty Lue: “Fuck CP, ain’t no name knowing *****, get the ball, play, & get to your action.” (I think he said knowing but can’t fully tell).
Just got linked this vid by a sub of mine from right before the season. Maybe ppl thought he was joking cause how have we not seen this? pic.twitter.com/JVAPkzoG3M

After a huge backlash, former Clippers guard Bones Hyland came out to defend his former coach, saying that Lue jokes with his players that way, and it wasn’t something he did out of spite toward somebody.
“Speaking for TLue, This how he joked around with us, he’s a great coach & good dude. He also had that relationship with his players where he talked to us like this & it didn’t have any animosity behind it, it was simply joking around,” Hyland wrote.

Hyland was with the Clippers from 2022 through 2025, averaging 7.8 points, 2.4 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 71 games. He has been with the Minnesota Timberwolves since last season. The Clippers rank fourth in the Pacific Division behind a 6-16 record. They have struggled to stop opposing teams, which has sparked speculation about whether it’s time for the front office to blow it up.
Paul is reportedly unlikely to sign with a new team in the league due to his personality, which would mean this is the end of the journey for the “Point God.”
