Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors Preview
The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the San Antonio Spurs at home the previous night, 130–117, earning only their second win in their last six games. This victory also ended a brief two-game losing streak on their home court. Before this matchup, the Cavaliers were beaten by the Portland Trail Blazers 122–110, while just prior to that they managed to defeat the Indiana Pacers on the road 135–119. Their current record is 14–10.
It is far from what the Cleveland Cavaliers hoped for, and far from what many analysts predicted for them before the season. Still, there are several reasons for their slower start, the main one being injuries. Kenny Atkinson has been unable to use Darius Garland in a large number of games — Darius Garland also missed two of the last three — as well as Sam Merrill and Max Strus, while the outstanding Jarrett Allen is currently sidelined as well. Nevertheless, as long as Donovan Mitchell continues performing at this level, the Cavaliers will remain contenders for a high finish. In the matchup with the San Antonio Spurs, the franchise’s best player scored 28 points and recorded 8 assists, and he is currently the fourth-best scorer in the league with an average of 30.6 points per game. Fantastic young player Jaylon Tyson joined him with 24 points, 16 of which came in the third quarter, which the Cavaliers won 44–19. That essentially decided the game, turning the final period into a mere formality. Another Cavalier in outstanding form is Evan Mobley, who has averaged 20 points and over 10 rebounds in his last five games. The Cavaliers have the ninth-best offense in the league, built heavily on a massive number of three-point attempts. They lead the league in that category, and it’s no surprise they rank second in made threes, even though their shooting percentage is not particularly impressive. There is no doubt that the absence of their three-point specialists — Sam Merrill and Max Strus — creates significant problems, and that with them on the floor, the Cavaliers would be a much more dangerous team.
The Golden State Warriors are not in good form, having lost three of their previous four games and six of their last eight. Their current record stands at 11–12, and the biggest issue is the injury to Steph Curry, the team’s best player. In their most recent game, they were narrowly defeated by the Philadelphia 76ers 99–98, and before that they suffered a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder 124–112.
The Golden State Warriors had a solid chance to return from their trip to Philadelphia with a win, but De’Anthony Melton was blocked by Tyrese Maxey in the final second, preventing him from securing victory for his team. Just prior to that play, the Warriors allowed the Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe to give the 76ers the lead with a put-back. Interestingly, this was De’Anthony Melton’s first game of the season, and he played very well, scoring 14 points and earning minutes in the decisive moments. The Warriors played without their two best players, Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, while Draymond Green had to leave the game in the second quarter due to injury. Given that, it was impressive that the rest of the team found the strength to even be in a position to win, especially after climbing back from a 24-point deficit. Alongside the aforementioned De’Anthony Melton, the biggest contributors were Pat Spencer (16 points), Buddy Hield (14 points, 8 rebounds), and Moses Moody (14 points). As expected, life without Steph Curry is difficult; since his latest injury, the Warriors have had the third-worst offense in the league, scoring the fewest points overall. Steph Curry’s absence coincided with Jonathan Kuminga’s return to the floor, but over these three games he is averaging just 9 points — a disappointing output for a player who was heavily discussed throughout the summer.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors H2H
Last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in both of their matchups.
Injuries and Suspensions
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without Jarrett Allen, Sam Merrill, Max Strus, and Larry Nance Jr., while Darius Garland and Tyrese Proctor are questionable. The Golden State Warriors will certainly be without the injured Steph Curry, Al Horford, and Alex Toohey, while the availability of Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, De’Anthony Melton, and Seth Curry remains uncertain.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors Best Betting Tip and Prediction
The Cleveland Cavaliers are dealing with some injury issues, but their best player is on the floor and performing at an exceptional level. On the other hand, the Golden State Warriors do not have Steph Curry available. This makes the visitors a significantly weaker team, which is reflected in the fact that since Steph Curry’s injury, the Warriors have had the third-worst offense in the league, score the fewest points, and hold the worst field-goal percentage in the NBA. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are managing to find productive contributors off the bench who can compensate for the injured players, and their overall play is strong on both ends of the court – they rank among the top ten teams in both offense and defense. Because of all this, we believe the home team will win by a margin larger than the listed handicap.
