MILWAUKEE — Coming off an emotional win over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers had to hop on a plane and head to Fiserv Forum to take on the struggling Milwaukee Bucks on the second night of a back-to-back. This had “trap game” written all over it, but the Sixers responded with a professional effort.

The Sixers jumped out to a big lead, as large as 26, and cruised to a 116-101 win over the Bucks on the road. Philadelphia took advantage of a Milwaukee team missing Giannis Antetokounmpo due to injury and received big contributions from up and down the roster including a strong effort from the bench unit.

Paul George had 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Sixers, Jabari Walker hopped off the bench and poured in 18 points while Quentin Grimes had 22 points and five assists, and Tyrese Maxey had 12 points, four assists, and four steals. VJ Edgecombe had 10 points, Adem Bona had 10 and five rebounds, and Jared McCain had eight points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Here are the player grades after the win:

Tyrese Maxey: A

The star guard was terrific defensively as he was able to get his hands on a lot of steals which led to easy buckets the other way for himself and his team. The Bucks were unable to stay in front of him defensively which allowed him to find a rhythm with easy looks in the paint leading to open looks for his teammates as well. Maxey was terrific as he stuffed the stat sheet with his scoring, playmaking, and defensive thievery. It was a very quiet night for him in terms of his scoring, but when considering what the Sixers got from others, that’s a good thing. It took a lot of pressure off him on that end.

VJ Edgecombe: B-minus

It was an overall quiet night for Edgecombe after his heroics on Thursday. He knocked down a 3-pointer in the early going, but then went quiet after that as he got into some foul trouble. He did contribute defensively so the Sixers will take that from him. However, as he has become accustomed to do all season, he made a big 3 in the fourth quarter to help the Sixers put this one away.

Paul George: A

This was a very good night for George. He was getting to his spots off the dribble and was knocking down some tough shots against this Bucks team. He was also very good at finding spots on the floor to step into and knock down catch-and-shoot opportunities. While he was good on offense, he was even better defensively. The way he moves his feet and stays in front of his man is a skill this team needed in his absence. He had a big 3-pointer in the third quarter when the Sixers got off to a tough start to the half and the Bucks attempted to get back into this one. That triple calmed the team down and righted the ship. He then knocked down big shots in the fourth to stem the tide once again after Milwaukee made another push.

Dominick Barlow: B

Once again, Barlow contributed in a number of ways. He did a good job on the defensive end as he used his quickness, IQ, and athleticism to help the Sixers set the tone on that end of the floor while being a presence on the glass and making plays with his passing as well.

Andre Drummond: C-plus

The veteran big man didn’t produce a whole lot in this one in terms of stats, but Drummond made some productive plays for Philadelphia. He had a steal in the early going which triggered a break the other way for the Sixers and allowed Philadelphia to find an early rhythm. One has to wonder, however, if the right knee injury he suffered on Nov. 28 in Brooklyn is bothering him a bit. He didn’t have the same energy as he normally does.

Jabari Walker: A

It was a terrific start for Walker who knocked down four triples in his initial stint and he got himself to the line off a hustle play. There is so much that he brings to the table and the Sixers have been waiting for a stretch like this one for him to show off his skills and contribute. His 3-point shooting in the opening half was hugely important to helping the Sixers build the lead and he made some big plays in the second half defensively and on the glass.

Quentin Grimes: A

The initial stint for Grimes was a mixed bag. He was really good with his shooting as he knocked down two triples to keep the scoreboard moving, but there were a number of turnovers that need to be addressed as he committed four of them in the early going. With that being said, though, Grimes continues to find ways to contribute in a number of ways to help this group. His overall 3-point shooting success continued and it gave the Sixers a big boost when it looked like the Bucks were trying to work themselves back into this one. His scoring ability is a big help to this bench unit.

Jared McCain: A

The Sixers getting this type of play out of McCain is hugely important going forward. The second-year guard hopped off the bench and drilled two triples immediately in his initial stint and he handled the ball some in order to give Maxey some rest. He was helpful on the glass, made plays for others, and protected the ball on an overall very good night. His play is going to be the big X-Factor on a nightly basis.

Adem Bona: B-minus

The initial stint for Bona was great as he brought a lot of energy and was aggressive in the paint. The Bucks are a sizeable team led by Myles Turner and Jericho Sims in the paint and Bona made a difference against them thanks to his athleticism and his high IQ on the glass. As the game wore on, he made some mistakes and committed some tough fouls, but he was an overall positive in this one.

Kyle Lowry: B-plus

The 20-year veteran got a look in the second quarter and he contributed to Philadelphia in a big way. He ran the offense with efficiency as he made sure there were no turnovers and he made sure to get his teammates involved while also knocking down a corner triple of his own. He struggled a bit in the second half, but Lowry played well overall.
