New York Knicks vs Orlando Magic Preview

New York Knicks won six of their last seven games in the NBA, which brought them to 15-7. In their previous outing they blew out the Utah Jazz and have definitely caught positive momentum. Considering the problems the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks are in—same as the Philadelphia 76ers—it’s clear what kind of opportunity the Knicks see this season. The Cleveland Cavaliers are also losing much more than expected, and the feeling is that this is a historic chance for the franchise from the Big Apple to finally reach the NBA Finals. After all, the very fact that head coach Tom Thibodeau was replaced despite reaching the Eastern Conference Finals speaks to that. The arrival of Mike Brown was supposed to upgrade the offense even further and that is definitely the case.

After 22 games in the new season, the Knicks have the second-best offensive rating at 122.2. Only the Denver Nuggets score more points than them per 100 possessions. Jalen Brunson led the way with 33 points in the win over the Jazz, and his leadership role is unquestionable. Before the previous season Brunson was viewed as one of the MVP candidates, but it’s clear he cannot keep up night after night with the pace set by players like Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic. Brunson definitely has the capacity to drop 40+ on a good night, but he doesn’t have it in him to do that every single game. Karl-Anthony Towns is on a similar level as last season, while the rest of the team is doing their expected jobs.

The Orlando Magic have also started to play in line with expectations and projections. They have won 10 of their last 13 games and are currently at 14-9. In most of those matchups they were without superstar Paolo Banchero, who was dealing with a groin injury, but he returned on Friday night when the Magic outlasted the Miami Heat in a dramatic finish. Banchero’s absence almost felt necessary for Desmond Bane to finally find the rhythm he was looking for. He scored 37 points against both the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons, and the Magic got exactly what they wanted from him. Many people questioned the front office decision to give up a large number of picks for Bane, but they saw an opportunity in a weakened Eastern Conference, and just like the Knicks, they hope they can make a deep run.

The Magic have been one of the best defensive teams in the NBA for years, and on that end of the floor they are capable of shutting down even the most efficient offenses in the league when they’re locked in. What they lacked was firepower on the other side of the court, because outside of the already mentioned Banchero and Franz Wagner, a third offensive option rarely appeared consistently. Now Bane is there, and that is the card that should give them a needed leap. Wagner scored 32 points against the Heat and has grown into a true superstar. Jalen Suggs is very up-and-down, but that’s characteristic of him. Anthony Black, on the other hand, shows progress year after year and has become a more than legitimate member of the Magic rotation. This game will be a chance for them to see where they stand compared to one of the best teams in the East, and they will definitely be highly motivated.

New York Knicks vs Orlando Magic Best Betting Tip and Prediction

The New York Knicks are surely motivated to finally beat the Orlando Magic after two losses this season. Banchero’s return slightly disrupted the Magic offense against the Miami Heat, which is not a surprise because a completely different dynamic was established without him. The Knicks finally have no injury problems and we believe they will justify their role as favorites on the court.
