Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla loves when his players are tested, and they were certainly challenged on Sunday afternoon by the Toronto Raptors. However, instead of collapsing after surrendering a 23-point lead in the second half, the Celtics rallied and closed out the Raptors on the road, 121-113.

With 8:33 remaining in the third quarter, the C’s led 87-64 and were feeling good about their red-hot offense. The Raptors punched back though, cutting the Green Team’s lead to just 6 points heading into the fourth quarter. Toronto continued to ride that momentum early in the final frame when it took a 98-97 lead with 10:39 left to play.

Celtics star Jaylen Brown didn’t flinch. He scored 8 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and iced the victory with some clutch free throws. Derrick White, who, like Brown, is also an experienced NBA champion, tallied 8 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter as well. The talented pair of Celtics starters helped Boston outscore Toronto 22-11 in the last 8:14 of the contest.

Following the gritty win, the Celtics improved to 15-9 overall, passing the Raptors in the Eastern Conference standings in the process.

The C’s now hold sole possession of third place in the East and have won five games in a row for their longest winning streak of the season.
