Pistons star Cade Cunningham on charity event “A Cade Christmas”

The Detroit Pistons have a gap in their schedule this week, thanks to the NBA Cup, but Cade Cunningham was still plenty busy, as he and his family hosted a holiday charity event on Detroit’s west side.

The Detroit Pistons superstar was joined by his parents, Keith and Carrie, and older brother Cannen during his “A Cade Christmas” event at Detroit Union Carpenters and Millwrights Skilled Training Center on Sunday, Dec. 7.

A group of preselected families received new bicycles, gas and grocery giftcards and a catered meal. There were games and arts and crafts for the children, and a DJ added to the festive atmosphere.

“I’ve been trying to do something every year I’ve been in the league, to give back and try to impact the community,” Cunningham said. “This year, just wanted to do something a little different than I had in the past. I think it turned out great. Having toys and bikes and all these different things I could put together. Kroger helped a lot donating with gift cards and bikes. A lot of help to help me put something together like this. It’s a great feeling for everybody.”

The event also included gift wrapping for parents, with free toys and games available for them to wrap and put under their own trees on Christmas. Give Merit, a Detroit-based nonprofit and youth organization, partnered with Cunningham to host the event.

Cunningham, who made the All-Star game and the All-NBA third team last season, has led the Pistons’ 19-5 start to the 2025-26 season, averaging 27. 5 points, 9.3 assists, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

Next up, the Pistons host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday (7:30 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network Detroit).
