Victor Wembanyama‘s lightning-fast start to the regular season got halted by a left calf strain that’s kept him sidelined for nearly a month, and while he returned to complete a full practice on Sunday, that absence from game action is expected to last at least one more game.

Still, his return to practice is a great sign and could signal a return to the lineup later this week. Expect a major shift in San Antonio’s NBA odds once that happens.

Is Victor Wembanyama playing tonight?

No, Wemby was ruled out and will not play in tonight’s game between the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans.

Wemby suffered a left calf strain during a Nov. 14 game against the Warriors after a 12-game start to the season that saw him averaging 26.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game in addition to a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game.

He’s missed 10 games since then, but with De’Aaron Fox back in the lineup, the Spurs are 7-3 in those games and up to 15-7 on the season.

San Antonio’s star center was a full participant during Sunday’s practice, and while he was ruled out for tonight’s game, his return appears imminent. Notably, he would have to play 55 of the remaining 59 games (if he doesn’t play tonight) to be eligible for All-NBA teams and other awards.

He was favored in the Defensive Player of the Year odds to start the season and had made an early push in the MVP odds, too. The Spurs are now listed at +4000 to win the NBA Finals at bet365 and are -1000 to make the playoffs.
