Jonathan Kuminga found himself glued to the bench on Sunday, Dec. 7. Steve Kerr made the decision as the Golden State Warriors sought their second-straight win, this time over the Chicago Bulls. Kuminga had struggled in his previous outing, going 1-of-10 from the field during the team’s Dec. 6 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

During his postgame news conference, Kuminga remained professional when asked about Kerr’s decision to hold him out of the rotation. Kuminga admitted that if the Warriors are winning, then there’s a chance the rotation won’t be altered.

“I’m not really sure (how long it lasts),” Kuminga said, via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “But as long as things are working out there and we winning, I don’t see the point of switching anything, changing. Whenever my number get called, I’ll be ready…”I don’t have any problems. I’m going to work out every day, stay ready, because you never know how these things works. I believe in my game and feel good about my game. I just got to be a professional. Things happen. It’s happened before.”

Kuminga has suited up for 17 games this season, averaging 12.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He’s shooting the rock at a 43.8% clip from the field and 32% clip from deep. However, Kuminga must now remain patient as he awaits a return to the rotation.

Golden State has a four-day rest period ahead of its Dec. 12 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. Kuminga will likely need to wait and see whether his number is going to get called or if he’s due for another game on the sidelines.
