New Texas A&M head basketball coach Bucky McMillan has made significant strides in the transfer portal before his first season at the helm, gaining eight commitments from the transfer portal, led by former five-star and Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako. However, McMillan is also preparing for the future, focusing on offering prospects in the 2026 recruiting class.
The list is long, and the names are enticing, but one young prospect stood out of the pact due to his lineage, as McMillan has fielded an offer to former Dallas Mavericks star small forward Josh Howard’s son, Bryson Howard out of Frisco, Texas. As Mavercks fans of a certain age group remember, Howard was a mainstay in Dallas from 2003-2010, helping the Mavs reach the NBA Finals during the 2005-2006 season.

Bryson Howard has already received eight offers, all coming in the last two days, including his Father’s alma mater, Wake Forest. Howards is a standout scoring option at Heritage High School in Frisco, and is coming off his impressive 2024 junior season.
In nearly 26 minutes of play, Howard averaged 17.1 points per game, 10.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
Like his Father, Howard is an excellent rebounder, taking advantage of his 6’5″ frame, and has shown the ability to stretch the floor, making a majority of his open 3-pointers.
