The Dallas Mavericks fanbase has gained an online reputation, and it’s unfortunately not a positive one.
According to a CCN analysis that covered subreddits for NFL, NBA, NHL and Premier League teams, Mavericks fans have the highest percentage of online toxicity. A total of 52% of comments on the team’s subreddit received flags for toxic language.
In second and third places for overall worst fanbases are the hockey teams Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames at 50% and 49%, respectively. The Mavericks are one of only two NBA fanbases to make the top 10 most toxic list. Two are NFL teams, and the rest are NHL teams.
Looking only at NFL teams, the Dallas Cowboys fanbase ranked fourth worst with toxic comments at 37.52%, and the Houston Texans fanbase ranked sixth with toxic comments at 36.98%.
The Dallas Stars narrowly avoided the top 10 worst NHL fanbases list with an 11th place ranking and 29.32% toxic comments.
It’s not all bad news, however; Texas also had a team make the top 10 list of least toxic fanbases. The San Antonio Spurs ranked eighth with a toxic comment percentage of 19.33%.
