Timberwolves Predicted To Add James Harden
The Los Angeles Clippers’ (6-18) plan to succeed with a veteran core has failed miserably. This means James Harden and Kawhi Leonard could see changes of scenery in the coming months, as the team could look to kickstart a rebuild despite not having their first-round pick this season.
Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus predicts the following blockbuster trade could take place between the Clippers, Timberwolves, and Brooklyn Nets:
Timberwolves receive: James Harden (from Clippers), Chris Paul (from Clippers), Jalen Wilson (from Nets)
Clippers receive: Naz Reid (from Timberwolves), Mike Conley (from Timberwolves), Rob Dillingham (from Timberwolves), Joe Ingles (from Timberwolves), Tyrese Martin (from Nets), $6.9 million trade exception (James Harden), $8.8 million trade exception (Brook Lopez), $2.7 million trade exception (Kobe Brown), $2.3 million trade exception (Chris Paul)
Nets receive: Brook Lopez (from Clippers), Kobe Brown (from Clippers), 2027 Cleveland Cavaliers second-rounder (via Timberwolves), $6 million (from Clippers), $1.96 million (from Timberwolves)
The Nets agree to this trade for the most simple reason. They reunite with former Los Angeles Lakers center, NBA champion, and their all-time leading scorer Brook Lopez, who can act as a veteran presence to a young Brooklyn team. This, along with the cash and draft capital they would receive, makes it quite easy to accept for the Nets.
For the Timberwolves, they’re banking on a backcourt duo of Harden and Edwards panning out. Whether Edwards is able to perform at a high level alongside another ball-dominant guard is tough to say.
Meanwhile, the Clippers officially kick off a much-needed rebuild.
