SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The season of giving was in full swing as the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth spent the day surprising people across Salt Lake County.

They covered groceries, gas, meals, and even pet adoptions as part of Smith Entertainment Group’s Pay It Forward Day.

One of the standout stops was at Best Friends Animal Society in Sugarhouse, where Jazz center Kyle Filipowski dropped in for a little puppy playtime.

Filipowski walked dogs, cuddled puppies, and delivered a full holiday wish list of collars, leashes, and toys — everything the shelter needed for the holiday season.

“It was an incredible opportunity to enjoy my passion and love for dogs and animals and try to do some good in the community,” he said. “Just show some light on these little guys and help find them homes.”

When asked if he planned to adopt, he joked, “One for each teammate.”

The SEG Foundation covered all adoption fees today, giving families a chance to bring home a pet before the holidays.
