The Detroit Pistons are the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference after 24 games. They look like serious contenders to come out of the East this season, with Cade Cunningham leading the way. With a potential move for Anthony Davis rumored, an NBA insider has provided an update on the Pistons’ plans.
Like many other good regular-season teams, the Pistons do seem to be lacking that postseason experience. While the East is weak, this issue might cost them an opportunity to possibly make the NBA Finals. Even with that in mind, though, Marc Stein suggests the team might not move for a big star.

“The early rumbles you hear about the Pistons are that they want to operate safely,” Stein reported on SiriusXM’s Deals and Dunks show. “It’s still early, we’ll see where the Pistons are in February. The early noise about the Pistons has been that they don’t want to go out and make some splashy trade.

“There’s a thought that they might make a run at Anthony Davis. I don’t see that from the Pistons in-season. The vibe we’re getting right now is that they still want to be measured, let this thing grow organically.”
There’s no denying that AD would be a huge addition to the team. However, they would have to move significant contracts, young players, and picks to get him. With Jalen Duren averaging 18.8 points and 11.5 rebounds a game, it doesn’t even seem like that pressing a need.
