The Los Angeles Lakers should be eyeing this trade

The biggest need when looking at the Lakers’ roster is that they could use a 3-and-D wing.

That type of player would be a perfect fit in the lineup they currently have with Doncic, Reaves, James, and Deandre Ayton.

While the Lakers have been linked to Giannis, Bill Simmons named an easy trade they can pull off right now for Herb Jones.

“I would trade Herb Jones right now. The contract he’s at, literally what the Lakers need.

“And it’s easy, Knecht, Kleber, and a 2031 first. Call it in.”

Herb Jones would be a perfect fit with the Los Angeles Lakers

If the Lakers can pull off a trade for Jones, he would be a huge addition to their team and title hopes.

Jones is an elite, disruptive defender who can pressure ball-handlers of all sizes and consistently makes smart, game-changing plays.

While his offense isn’t as strong, he brings value with a solid three-point shot and unselfish passing, highlighted by a personal-best 3.3 assists last season.

Jones has a very good, team-friendly contract, which makes him an even more appealing trade target. He signed a 3-year, $68 million extension with the Pelicans in July 2025, keeping him under contract through 2029-30 with a player option.

The Lakers already have plenty of scoring talent, but their perimeter defense is a weakness. Adding Jones would directly address that issue, boosting their overall defense and easing the burden created by the team’s offensive-focused players.

This is a trade they should make.
