INDIANAPOLIS — Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton won’t make it back on the floor this season, but he will be back on major national NBA broadcasts as an analyst and he will also be giving insights into his recovery from the Achilles tendon tear suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals in June.

Amazon Prime Video announced via press release Tuesday morning that Haliburton will join NBA on Prime as a “player contributor making select appearances throughout the 2025-26 season.” He will make his debut on Tuesday night on NBA Nightcap after the Eastern Conference NBA Cup quarterfinal doubleheader on Prime with the Magic hosting the Heat at 6 p.m. and the Raptors hosting the Knicks at 8:30 p.m.

According to the press release, “as part of his role, Haliburton will document his recovery from an Achilles injury sustained during the NBA Finals through short video features, offering viewers an intimate look at the dedication and work required to return to elite performance. This content will be integrated into NBA on Prime coverage throughout the season.”

Haliburton provided a statement in the press release.

“I’m excited to join NBA on Prime and share my basketball knowledge in a different way with viewers around the world,” Haliburton said in the release. “This is a great opportunity to give fans an inside look at what it takes to compete at the highest level, in a unique storytelling approach by partnering with an incredible platform like Amazon. The NBA on Prime team is doing something special, and I’m looking forward to helping bring fans closer to the game.”

Haliburton has dabbled in various forms of media in his time with the Pacers with numerous podcast appearances. He co-hosted multiple episodes of Young Man and the Three — an offshoot of the Old Man and the Three podcast started by J.J. Redick before he took the head coaching job with the Lakers. As part of his duties, Haliburton interviewed former President Barack Obama before the 2024 election. He’s also been an in-game analyst at All-Star Weekend when the Pacers hosted and in games with FanDuel Sports Network Indiana this season while he’s been out. The two-time All-NBA pick and two-time All-Star increased his visibility dramatically with a series of remarkable game-winning or game-tying shots during the Pacers’ NBA Finals run last season, their first since 2000.

“Tyrese represents this generation of NBA stars, and we’re excited to bring his unique perspective and personality to our coverage,” Amina Hussein, Prime Sports Head of On-Air Talent, said in the press release. “His willingness to share his journey back to the court with our viewers demonstrates the authenticity and transparency we’re bringing to our NBA coverage.”
