The Chicago Bulls are reportedly weighing up a trade for a former All-Star NBA center to pair with Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis.

The Chicago Bulls impressed many fans with the way they started the season, going undefeated in their first five games.

However, after going 5-0, the Bulls went 1-5, which brought their record back down to the mediocre level many expected of them.

Since their first 12 games, the Bulls have gone 3-8, losing seven games in a row recently. Matas Buzelis acknowledged the Bulls’ losing streak, admitting that improvements have to be made.

Could that improvement come in the form of a trade? It appears the Bulls are eyeing a former All-Star center to replace the aging Nikola Vucevic.

“The Chicago Bulls have emerged as a suitor for Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis, league sources tell The Consensus.

“Chicago’s front office has held internal discussions on pursuing Sabonis, with longstanding admiration for the Lithuanian star factoring into the interest.”

Domantas Sabonis could be great for Chicago Bulls, but hamper Matas Buzelis’ development

Given how poorly the Sacramento Kings are doing this season, the idea of trading for Domantas Sabonis becomes even more appealing.

The Kings’ form means that they will be willing to part ways with Sabonis at a lower price, and sending them a first-round pick with two expiring contracts puts them in an excellent position.

However, there is one major issue. Domantas Sabonis plays a very similar style to Bulls youngster Matas Buzelis.

Bringing in another, more established player with a near-identical profile could be detrimental to the development of Buzelis as a young prospect.

The Bulls must consider playing Sabonis as a spacing center should they land him, as it allows Buzelis to drive to the paint and slash more frequently, thus developing his inside presence.
