The Nets say they have assigned Drake Powell and Ben Saraf to their NBA G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.

Brooklyn doesn’t play again until Friday at the Mavericks and Long Island plays 2 games before Friday so it makes sense to get Powell and Saraf more game reps.

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets rookie forward Danny Wolf has found his way into head coach Jordi Fernandez’s rotation even after the team has gotten healthier thanks to his immediate ability to contribute. Wolf has been one of Brooklyn’s backup big men and secondary ball-handlers early on in his rookie campaign and he hasn’t lost sight of the added responsibility he has.

“Obviously, the NBA game is so different than college, so different than anything else, so it’s been an adjustment,” Wolf said to the media following Tuesday’s practice. The Nets don’t play again until Friday at the Dallas Mavericks so Wolf has some extra time to watch film and see how he can have more of an impact knowing that Fernandez is asking him actions similar to what he did while at the University of Michigan.

“But, just coach, when he trusts me with the ball in my hands, it’s on me to make the right plays,” Wolf continued. “The NBA is different in that sometimes, there’ll be more space, and sometimes there’ll be less. You’re gonna see a lot of different coverages, and you gotta learn on the fly. But, it’s been fun so far. For me, it just comes back to keep working and to continue in that trust and kind of develop to that point.”

Wolf, 21, is averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 44.2% from the field and 44.4% from three-point land in nine appearances this season. However, in Wolf’s last six games, he has played at least 22.3 minutes per contest and is posting averages of 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on .451/.444/.917 shooting splits, showing that his spot in the rotation could be here to stay.

On Monday, the Nets announced that rookies Drake Powell and Ben Saraf were assigned to the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G League afiliate, leaving Wolf and Egor Demin as the only rookies currently with Brooklyn. That’s not to say that neither of Powell or Saraf will be recalled for Friday’s game in Dallas, but Wolf staying in Brooklyn could be an indication that the team doesn’t believe that Wolf needs G League minutes anymore, potentially a great sign for his development.
