Fans of the Boston Celtics taken by surprise by the solid play of new arrival Josh Minott compared to what he has done in the NBA before getting to the Celtics have wondered where this player was before — and what is bringing it out of him now in Boston. Much of that growth can be attributed to the trust of his teammates and the coaching of Joe Mazzulla, but the lion’s share of the credit ought to go to Minott himself.
The Boca Raton, Florida native recently opened up to Abby Chin on an episode of the team-produced “View from the Rafters” podcast about what he is doing differently with the Celtics this season. “I’d probably say just changing my routine,” explained the Boston forward. “I wouldn’t say changing, more just building an actual routine — understanding that now, with the responsibility at hand that I have to … have responsibility to my team, my coaches, my teammates in terms of what I put into my body, how I take care of my body.”

“I don’t want to let them down on that end by not being able to physically bring my best every night,” continued Minott.

Detroit Pistons forward Ronald Holland II (5) and guard Javonte Green (31) defend against Boston Celtics forward Josh Minott (8) in the first half at TD Garden in Boston on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025.
And in terms of who is behind these changes, “I’d probably say about 80/20 (percent), me, in terms of understanding that I have a lot bigger of a role here.”
“With that comes responsibility, so I can’t really be eating the same things I was, the same sleep habits or things like that. And now it’s like focusing a lot more on like recovery, whether that be cold tub or whatever, because (of) that extended workload.”
