Every week, the NBA on NBC brings you the best games from around the league on two consecutive nights. You get Peacock NBA Mondays, followed the very next day by Coast 2 Coast Tuesdays, both serving live primetime NBA action from NBC Sports.

How to Watch

Watch NBA on NBC on NBC and streaming on Peacock

This week, though, things are a little bit different. As Christmas inches ever closer, holiday programming is taking over NBC, which means a few changes to the NBA schedule for the week of December 8. Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect from NBA on NBC programming this week.

NBA games on NBC and Peacock this week

As we’ve already said, this is something of an unusual week. Flex game schedule changes mean that we will not get our usual doubleheader for Peacock NBA Mondays, and for the first time since the return of the NBA on NBC, there will be no Coast 2 Coast Tuesdays this week, but don’t worry, that’s only temporary. Here’s a look at what games to expect:

Peacock NBA Monday

Monday, December 8: Phoenix Suns vs Minnesota Timberwolves – 7:30 p.m. ET (Peacock)

Yes, we’re down to just one game this week, but it’s a good one, as a feisty Suns squad hobbled by injuries (both Devin Booker and Jalen Green are out this week) heads to Minnesota to face Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves. The Suns still have weapons, including Grayson Allen and Dillon Brooks, but the Timberwolves are red hot right now thanks in no small part to Edwards, and they’ll be a tough team to beat on their home court.

So, why is this the lone Peacock NBA Monday game this week? Because the NBA elected to “flex” this game into the primetime national spotlight and move others to where they’ll be available in local markets. Flex games are a common occurrence in sports programming, with the goal of presenting audiences with the biggest possible matchup to retain viewers and hopefully deliver the best viewing experience. This time around, that means we get Suns/Timberwolves, with “On the Bench” analysis, live on Peacock.

So, what happened to Tuesday? Well, with Christmas approaching, NBC is briefly clearing out the NBA action in favor of some holiday specials. On Tuesday, December 9, you’ll be able to catch Frosty the Snowman with the family at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Shrek the Halls at 8:30 p.m., and A Motown Christmas at 9 p.m.
