Over the past few days, there has been a lot of talk about the future of legendary point guard Chris Paul with the Los Angeles Clippers. After Los Angeles made the decision to send Paul home for various reasons, there have been a ton of questions about his career.

Paul had joined the Clippers for the final season of his NBA career, making it a full-circle decision to join the franchise that he helped turn around years ago. But for this entire situation to happen, it’s a sad reality of where things stand between the two sides.

Los Angeles has taken a lot of heat for how they has handled arguably the best player in franchise history, and other stars tend to watch how players are treated. While Paul may be at the end of the rope in his career, this move by the Clippers could cause problems down the line for the franchise that has never won much of anything.

However, the Clippers will now look to work with Paul about finding a new landing spot, but the damage between the two sides has likely been tarnished. Paul will likely prefer to remain close to Los Angeles, since his kids and family live in the city.

Not only was going back to the Clippers appealing for basketball reasons, but Paul has said that he wanted to be close to family. With this, his staying on the West Coast would be preferred to the former All-Star, but that also limits the teams he could join.

The Clippers could also release the veteran, but the franchise may prefer to at least get something small in value for the point guard. But how the team plays this entire thing out remains to be seen, and will determine how people view the franchise moving forward.

Chris Paul Set to Join Phoenix Suns

Before Paul joined the Clippers this offseason, the other team that he was heavily considering was the Phoenix Suns. Paul was with the Suns for a few years, and Phoenix could be the best landing spot for him to finish his career.

Not only would Phoenix allow Paul to remain close to his family, but the Suns have been a big surprise to open the year. Phoenix is currently sitting in a playoff spot, and Paul could only enhance that thought for the rest of the year.

Paul and star guard Devin Booker have a good relationship, still from their playing days a few years ago, so this could be a perfect pairing. There is a mutual respect between the two guards, and Paul could offer the Suns some needed depth across the roster.

Overall, the Suns make a lot of sense for Paul if he wants to keep playing out this final season of his career. Phoenix may be willing to bring him into the mix, if only to land another veteran voice for the young locker room.
