MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Grizzlies made a quick exit in the NBA postseason, but two Grizzlies are still getting postseason honors.
Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells were both named to the 2024-2025 NBA All-Rookie First Team, according to the Memphis Grizzlies.
It’s the third time in franchise history that a pair of rookies has earned the honor. The last time multiple Memphis rookies accomplished the feat was in 2019-2020, when Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke both earned the honors. The first pair to earn the recognition was Pau Gasol and Shane Battier in 2001-2002.
Memphis selected Edey with the ninth overall pick in the 2024 Draft. The big man led all rookies in field goal percentage (58.0), rebounds per game (8.3), and offensive rebounds per game (3.5). Edey totaled 12 double-doubles in his rookie season, the most by a Grizzlies rookie since Marc Gasol in 2008-2009.
Wells came to the Grizzlies with the 39th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Wells led all rookies in starts (74), 3-pointers made (138), free throw percentage (82.2), and overall plus-minutes (186). No rookie took part in more wins than Wells this past season, with the Grizzlies rookie appearing in 47 winning games.
