The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly exploring trade options for guard Jordan Poole as their season falters and they now sit with a 3-22 record, which is still the worst record in the Western Conference.
As the Pelicans look to reshape their future, Jordan Poole becomes a player that New Orleans can look to get value for, and a team that could look to acquire Poole’s talents is the Detroit Pistons.
With a dismal record and significant draft pick concerns, the team is looking to reshape its roster. Poole, acquired from Washington, has struggled with efficiency since joining the Pelicans, leading to increased trade speculation.

New Orleans Pelicans Trade Jordan Poole to the Detroit Pistons
Detroit Pistons Receive: Jordan Poole
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Tobias Harris, 2026 First Round Pick
The New Orleans Pelicans find themselves in a difficult position, as they are struggling as a team, and currently don’t hold a first round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Trades that the Pelicans make will be ones where they can get the draft value back to start building towards their future. In this scenario, they make a trade with a win-now team in the Pistons to secure that draft capital as well as Tobias Harris, who fixes their forward spot.
Jordan Poole, acquired from Washington, has averaged 17.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game so far this season with New Orleans. With Poole, he can be the exact extra scoring threat they need if they want to advance on their 19-5 record and have their success carry into the playoffs.
By pairing Jordan Poole’s dynamic scoring with Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren it would help elevate Detroit’s offense immensely. While Cunningham and Duren would receive most of the attention, it would lead to Poole being able to score in bunches. While Poole has had some inconsistent stretches in his career, his upside is something the Pistons can take a chance on and look to develop further.
No matter what, Jordan Poole’s ability to score for himself is something that is beneficial, and for the Pistons having that play from Poole either on the floor with the starters, or off the bench, is how they further build their contending team for the future.
