GOLD END ZONES
The Steelers had a big game last week against the Baltimore Ravens. While they don’t have as intense of a rivalry against the Miami Dolphins, this upcoming game is just as important. That’s especially true because the Steelers are inducting their new members of their Hall of Honor. They’re also wearing their color rush uniforms, and they’ve added one other special element for this week.
The Steelers announced on Twitter that they’ve painted their end zones gold for this game. They’ve brought that back in recent years, with the end zones originally being that color for much of the time that the team played at Three Rivers Stadium. It’s a popular look, and hopefully, it gives the team a boost.
STEELERS CHANGEMAKER
The NFL is a huge platform, and it tries to elevate several good causes. That includes Inspire Change, the league’s social justice platform. It was created in 2017, and this marks the fourth year of the Inspire Change Changemaker Award. It’s presented to one person from each NFL city that is making a difference in their community through social justice work.
The Steelers recently revealed their representative, too. Steelers Community Relations on Twitter showed Corliss Waitman surprising Tim Smith with the honor. Smith is the CEO and founder of Center of Life in Hazelwood, a neighborhood in Pittsburgh. The program helps the community in numerous ways, and now, it will receive a $10,000 donation from the NFL.
NBA STAR ON BEING BENGALS FAN IN PITTSBURGH
The Baltimore Ravens are the Steelers’ biggest rival. However, they’ve also had some classic battles against the Cincinnati Bengals. That rivalry got pretty intense, especially in the 2010s. NBA forward Cameron Johnson knows that far too well.
Johnson currently plays for the Denver Nuggets, but he grew up in Pittsburgh. Despite that, he became a Bengals fan, as he explains on the Old Man and the Three podcast. Johnson caught a lot of flak for that, especially when the Steelers and Bengals met up in the playoffs.
