Onyeka Okongwu claims Jalen Johnson hasn’t improved, just gotten more minutes

“Honestly, no. I think, with Trae being out, he’s been able to have the ball in his hands a lot more. He’s always had playmaking ability; he’s just showcasing it.

“He works really hard. He’s been working hard since the day I met him in his rookie year. I’m happy to see him actually showcase what he has out there.”

Jalen Johnson’s playmaking has certainly improved

Despite what Onyeka Okongwu might suggest, Jalen Johnson’s performances show that he has improved massively this season.

Most notably, it’s his playmaking that is on another level entirely this season, as he is averaging nearly 3 more assists per game than he did in his injury-filled previous season.

Johnson’s assist numbers show that he has taken a huge leap in his playmaking abilities. Not only is this good for him, but it also massively benefits the Atlanta Hawks.

Many believe Johnson should not be traded by the Hawks, as he is proving that he can be a key piece they build around for years to come.
