PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Trail Blazers center Donovan Clingan has been named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, becoming the franchise’s first player to earn All-Rookie honors since Damian Lillard in the 2012-13 season.
Clingan, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, played in 67 games and made 37 starts in his debut season. He averaged 6.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 53.9% from the field in 19.8 minutes per contest.
The 7-foot-2 center from Bristol, Connecticut, emerged as a defensive presence for Portland, finishing the season ranked first in the league in contested shots per 36 minutes (17.6) and fifth in blocks per game. He also led the NBA in offensive rebounds per 36 minutes (5.9), among players who logged at least 1,000 minutes.
Among rookies, Clingan finished first in blocks per game, third in rebounds and fourth in field goal percentage (.539) for players with at least 200 shot attempts. His 527 total rebounds and 217 offensive boards are both franchise records for a rookie.
Clingan is the 15th player in Trail Blazers history to receive All-Rookie honors.
