According to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls are interested in trading for Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis.

However, Sabonis is prepared to remain with the Kings.

“For Sabonis’ part, league sources say the 29-year-old big man has heeded that call for patience,” Amick wrote. “His contract runs through the 2027-28 season, with a combined $94 million owed in the next two seasons, meaning his market is inevitably limited by the sheer magnitude of the money owed.

“Teams like Washington, the Phoenix Suns and Chicago have shown significant interest in the past and are still believed to be on his short list of possible suitors, but Sabonis is prepared to remain in a Kings jersey for the foreseeable future. He has been out since Nov. 19 with a partial tear of his left meniscus and was scheduled to be re-evaluated within the next week.”

Sabonis, currently out because of a torn meniscus in his left knee, has appeared in 11 games this season. He’s averaging 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 51.0% from the field, 20.0% from beyond the arc and 72.5% from the free-throw line. The three-time All-Star has nine double-doubles.

The Kings have been a walking disaster this season. They are only 6-19 despite having Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook.

Sabonis is making $42.3 million this season. He’ll make $45.5 million next season and $48.6 million during the 2027-28 season, the final year of his contract.

A three-time rebounding champion, Sabonis has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers and Kings. He holds career averages of 16.1 points, 10.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

Sabonis will be re-evaluated around the middle of December. It will be fascinating to see if the talented big man is traded this season.
