The Boston Celtics came to play when they took the court against the Toronto Raptors when they visited their Canadian foe at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday (Dec. 7) afternoon, jumping out to an early, big lead on their way to an eventual 121-113 win. We say ‘eventual’ because the Raptors made a game of things in the second half, briefly taking a 3-point lead before Boston re-established a cushion they managed to carry to the final buzzer.

Toronto wing Brandon Ingram had some thoughts on what went wrong for the Raptors in the loss, saying (via the team) that Toronto “just had a slow start,” allowing the Celtics to accumulate a 23-point advantage.

“Guys came out on the Celtics and (were) really aggressive,” added the Raptors forward. “They saw a lot of shots go in, especially in that first quarter.”

“Derrick White coming out really aggressive with his shot, along with Jaylen Brown,” continued Ingram. “And the big man on the glass (Neemias Queta), he got them a lot of second-chance points in that first half.”

“And, in the second half, we just fought back — we fought back in that third quarter. We got a lead. And down the stretch, the Celtics just executed a little bit better.”
