WILLMAR — Strong three-point shooting in the first half lifted the Ridgewater men’s basketball team to victory against Minnesota North College-Vermilion on Saturday afternoon.
Ridgewater, which is receiving votes in the NJCAA Division III rankings, was 9-for-16 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes en route to sealing a 120-70 win over the Ironhawks.
Saturday’s win featured the most points the Warriors have scored this season. They have at least 113 points in three games and are 9-2 while averaging 97.5 points per game.
DeAndre Holloway, who tallied his ninth double-double this season, led the way for Ridgewater.
Holloway, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward from Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, knocked down a game-high 31 points on 11 of 17 shooting and 8 of 9 free throws. He snatched 12 rebounds and tied his season-high with six blocks. His career-best eight blocks came in his freshman year.

Tyrese Mayo eclipsed the 20-point mark for the seventh time this season, finishing with 21 points on 10 of 14 shooting. The sophomore guard from Winter Haven, Florida had four assists.
John Hooker, a freshman forward from Pensacola, Florida, provided a major spark off the bench for the Warriors. He dropped a career-best 19 points, including 12 in the first half where Ridgewater had a 76-32 lead, on 9 of 13 shooting. He also grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Jovohn Davis, a sophomore forward from Davenport, Iowa, was in the starting lineup and contributed 11 points for the Warriors. De’Quarious Marks, a freshman guard from Haines City, Florida came off the bench and supplied 10 points and three assists.
NaTorrius Truitt led the Ironhawks with 12 points. Andrew Johnson added 10 points.

Ridgewater clawed its way back and made it a two-point game with a Julia Hines three-point shot with five seconds remaining before a pair of free throws by Minnesota North College-Vermilion freshman Danita Gonzalez sealed the Ironhawks’ victory at Willmar.
Gonzalez, who recorded 16 points, nine rebounds and a team-best five assists, was one of three Vermilion freshmen who finished in double figures.
Kye Clater scored a game-high 25 points on 6 of 14 shooting and 10 of 11 free throws for the Ironhawks. Teammate Alyria Greene, who snatched game-bests 15 rebounds and five blocks, tacked on 13 points.

Ridgewater’s Madison Norsten, a freshman guard/forward from Willmar, matched Clater’s game-high 25 points on 7 of 19 shooting and 9 of 13 free throws. She has gone north of 20 points five times.
Aly Wendlandt scored 11 points for the Warriors, who are 5-8 this season. The freshman guard from New London-Spicer contributed team-highs of nine rebounds and seven steals.
