The Los Angeles Clippers have barely had any success in the NBA since their inception in the league in 1970.

The closest that the LA Clippers have gotten to an NBA Championship was during the 2020-21 season, when the team was eliminated in the Western Conference Finals.

But before that run, most Clippers fans had their highest expectations for the team from 2011 to 2017.

It has been exactly 14 years since the day when the Clippers engaged in a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Hornets [New Orleans Pelicans] for the services of CP3.

Considering the Clippers have been through their fair share of poor trades, it’s interesting to look back at what the franchise gave up for the point god.

This is indeed the best trade that the Clippers have ever made in franchise history. After all, they ended up trading back for Austin Rivers soon after.

Under Paul’s command, the Clippers became a perennial playoff contender, but injuries held back the team from reaching its full potential.

CP3 averaged 18.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists in 409 games for the Clippers before getting traded to the Houston Rockets in 2017.

LA Clippers brought back Chris Paul, only to waive him

After leaving the Clippers in 2017, Paul made a return to LA this past summer when he signed a one-year, $3.6 million veteran’s minimum deal.

Paul also announced it was his final NBA season, as most expected the veteran point guard to receive a grand farewell.

Instead, the Clippers shocked the world by waiving Paul during a road trip. Evidently, the organization has received major flak from NBA fans for its treatment of the franchise legend.

Right now, Paul is searching for his next team as the 40-year-old’s career has taken an unexpected turn.
