After losing a nail-biter to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, the San Antonio Spurs will return home to the Frost Bank Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers. The Spurs and Lakers split their first two games this season, with San Antonio blowing LA out of the water in the game without Victor Wembanyama.
Against Memphis, Wembanyam scored 30 points off the bench. As he rehabs a sore knee, expect the Spurs to remain cautious with him moving forward, limiting his minutes and perhaps keeping him with the second unit.
Wembanyama is not listed on the injury report for tonight’s game, and the Spurs will be at near-full health as they take on the Lakers, who are only a game behind San Antonio in the standings.

With only one game seperating the Lakers from the second-place Spurs, a San Antonio loss would cause the Spurs to fall to third place in the Western Conference. Still, after entering the season with only hopes of the playoffs, a top-three ranking is a massive success for the young Spurs team.
While it’s clear that LeBron James is waning, Luka Doncic remains one of the very best players in the league. The Spurs play up (or down) to their competition, so fans should expect the Spurs to be at their best, as the Lakers are one of the best teams in the NBA.
The Spurs are pretty heavy favorites in a possible playoff preview, helped by the Lakers missing Reaves. However, Los Angeles has won its last three games, including two straight over those pesky Grizzlies, so the Spurs shouldn’t be expected to run James, Doncic, and the Lakers out of the building.
