College men’s basketball: Bowie State holds off Blue Bears

BOWIE, Md. — Down 14 points at halftime, Livingstone’s men’s basketball team didn’t fold and pushed Bowie State to the wire on Monday.
The Bulldogs didn’t secure the CIAA game until Joseph Allen dunked with 22 seconds left. Bowie State won 77-72 in front of 548 fans at A.C. Jordan Arena.
Livingstone scored by committee with 11 different Blue Bears getting in the book. Kenneth Tyree led with 11 points. Wisdom Rogers and James Nipper scored 10 each.
Livingstone (4-5, 1-2) shot very well on 3s (7-for-13) but missed 13 free throws.
Bowie State out-shot the Blue Bears 44 percent to 37 percent from the field and blocked seven shots.
Guy Fauntleroy led the Bulldogs (3-9, 1-1) with 20 points.
Livingstone will play again in the D.C. area on Tuesday, taking on District of Columbia.
