Clay Bennett serves as chairman of Professional Basketball Club LLC, which owns the Oklahoma City Thunder, and is chairman of Dorchester Capital Corporation.
Born November 14, 1959, in Oklahoma City, Bennett attended Casady School and the University of Oklahoma. He led an Oklahoma City investment group that purchased the Seattle SuperSonics for $350 million in 2006, successfully relocating the franchise to Oklahoma City in 2008 following a settlement with the city of Seattle.
Under his chairmanship, the Thunder reached the NBA Finals in 2012 and won the NBA Championship in 2025. Bennett has played a central role in Oklahoma City’s urban revitalization, leading the MAPS initiative and committing to a $900 million New Arena project to keep the Thunder through 2050.
Bennett was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2007 and named Oklahoman of the Year in 2008. Bennett serves on numerous boards including the National Football Foundation, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, and previously chaired the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents from 2011 to 2019.
