Chet Holmgren serves as center and power forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder and founder of the Chet Holmgren Foundation, established shortly after joining the team in 2022.

Born May 1, 2002, in Minneapolis, Holmgren has hosted annual Thanksgiving dinners for foster families from Citizens Caring for Children for four consecutive years, serving meals and spending time with families at Paycom Center.

He works year-round with foster families, donating game tickets to a different foster family every home game and organizing both Thanksgiving and Christmas events. In February 2024, the Chet Holmgren Foundation partnered with JD Sports to build a community basketball court in Spencer, Oklahoma, with Holmgren expressing hope it would be “the first of many.”

The seven-foot-one player emphasizes reciprocal community relationships, stating he is “in a position now where I’m able to really make changes and make a big difference in the community and individual people’s lives.” After helping the Thunder win the 2025 NBA Championship and signing a five-year, $250 million contract extension, Holmgren’s charitable commitment to Oklahoma foster families and youth is expected to continue for years to come.
