Luka Dončić is in the giving mood this holiday season.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick told reporters Tuesday that Dončić bought an electronic bike for every member of the team’s basketball operations staff, as well as for the players and coaches.

Redick called it “a very nice gesture.”

The gesture comes after ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported in October that Dončić organized a team bonding activity at the Porsche Driving Experience where players had the opportunity to test cars out on the track.

He also has a track record of gifting electric bikes to teammates, coaches and staff members seeing how he did the same when he was a member of the Dallas Mavericks:

Dončić was the face of the franchise in Dallas and assumed a leadership role given the position. But doing things like leading team bonding activities and gifting so many members of the franchise electronic bikes suggests he is assuming more of a leadership role on the Lakers as well.

That is notable since this is his first full season with Los Angeles after it acquired him via trade from the Mavericks last season.

The Lakers figure to build around him for years to come even after LeBron James has retired or is playing elsewhere, and giving such thoughtful gifts is one way to earn even more respect from his teammates and others.

Dončić has also been dominant on the court this season and leads the NBA at 34.7 points per game.

Los Angeles is 18-7 in large part because of his individual excellence and will look to continue playing well when it faces the Utah Jazz on Thursday.
