The 2025 NBA Cup Finals are here.

After a gruelling tournament, the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks have emerged from their respective brackets and will duke it out in the finals. Both teams were three-seeds in their respective region.

The Knicks overcame the Toronto Raptors in the quarterfinals, 117-101, and then moved past the Orlando Magic, 132-120, in the semifinals. The Spurs took down the Los Angeles Lakers 132-119 in their quarterfinal matchup, then beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-109 in an intense game, advancing to the Cup finals and giving the Thunder their second loss of the season.

It will be interesting to see how the Spurs use star center Victor Wembanyama in the finals. He had been dealing with an injury, so for the first time in his career, he came off the bench against Oklahoma City. Wembanyama played 21 minutes and finished with 22 points, nine rebounds and two blocks with five turnovers.

The Sporting News is tracking all of the updates and highlights as the Knicks take on the Spurs in the 2025 NBA Cup finals.

End of first half: Spurs lead 61-59

9:45 p.m. — Anunoby is playing out of his mind. He made some high effort plays in the final minute, including a falling shot that happened to go in. He leads all players in the game with 20 points.

9:39 p.m. — Castle got whistled for a foul on Brunson with 1:47 left in the half. Kornet is the first Spurs player with 10 points. More impressive on the box score is that both Fox and Castle each have seven assists.

Brunson is up to 15 points. He is 6-14 shooting and is 1-2 from deep. The teams have combined for 29 assists so far.

Spurs lead 56-54.

9:28 p.m. — The Knicks called another timeout, this time with 5:22 left in the half. Wembaynama had a steal and then tossed it up the court to Stephon Castle for the slam, which forced the timeout call.

San Antonio continues to spread the ball around with Dylan Harper up to eight points off the bench and no Spurs shooter with double digits yet. Anunoby still leads the Knicks, and has been tough for San Antonio to slow down. He is already up to 16 points. Towns has five points and six rebounds.

Spurs lead 50-43.

9:22 p.m. — The Knicks called a timeout with seven minutes left in the half. The Spurs are on a bit of a run and lead 46-40. San Antonio is shooting 53% from the field and are 5-14 from beyond the arc. The Knicks are shooting 45% and are 5-15 from three-point range.

Wemby registered a block and now has a block in 99 consecutive games.

Spurs lead 46-40.

9:17 p.m. — The teams are playing clean early. With nine minutes to go in the half, they have combined for 22 assists and three turnovers. Fox already has seven assists for the Spurs.

End of first quarter: Spurs 30, Knicks 28

9:09 p.m. — Neither team was able to mount momentum and create separation ahead of the quarter break. Anunoby leads both teams with 10 points. The scoring for the Spurs is more spread out with Vassell pacing the team with seven points, but Harrison Barnes and De’Aaron Fox with six points apiece. Wembanyama finally got on the board and has two points on 1-4 shooting.

The highlight of the first quarter was actually an assist from Karl-Anthony Towns. He was getting double teamed on the sideline, but threw a laser beam to Anunoby who dunked it home.

9:00 p.m. — The Spurs took a timeout with 4:27 left in the quarter. The Knicks are currently up 21-19. Wembanyama has only played three minutes, but missed his first shot of the game and then had a turnover.

Knicks lead 21-19.

8:51 p.m. — Both teams are playing fast, and trying to get into their rhythm shooting from the floor. The first foul of the game came with 7:03 left in the first quarter, and it allowed for Wembanyama to check in.

8:30 p.m. — The game is being played at a neutral site in Las Vegas. At least when the two teams took the floor for the pre-game warm-ups, it sounded like the crowd favored the Knicks.

8:25 p.m. — Just like their win in the semifinals, the Spurs are going to bring Victor Wembanyama off the bench to begin the game. He is expected to check into the game at some point in the first quarter.
